Hey guys my Dad is selling his JKU and since you all have been along for the ride I figured you could help establish a price. It's a 2013 JKU sport s in commando green. Automatic, hardtop, tow package, and U-connect package. Mods include Ripp supercharger, 4.56 gears, AEV premium front bumper and rear bumper, rubicon rock rails, TOTL functional hood, banks high flow exhaust, 4 Rigid Duallys( 2 spot , 2 flood). Black 17x 8 wheels and nitro terra grapplers285/70 with 4500 miles on them, locking hood latches, stubby antenna, AEV spacer lift, upgraded audio, tail light guards. It has 16,000 miles, is kept garaged and not a DD. I have a price in mind but I'll wait to see what you guys/gals come up with.141614171418

That's a sweet Jeep. I have no idea what it's worth but I am going to follow along closely. Does it shift OK?

Normal driving D is fine. If you want to get into it( as with all Ripped autos) you have to lift to shift. The 2 ways around that are to use the sport shift mode, or if you are going from a stop ( to test 0-60 times) push the auto stick over so that "1" shows then you can go full throttle and it will shift without hesitation

Best 0-60 it pulled (mid 5s) was using the latter method

I just said in the sprintex thread that there were no RIPP autos that didnt require "lift to shift", It took GUNNER about 30 seconds to post a list and threads with people who state that the SC shifts without lifting. I've looked at and accept his correction. You can see it in the SC Shootout thread.

That jeep is beautiful. If you have a picture of the window sticker post that. The original option list will help us figure its value now.

Add a few bucks because commando is highly sought after.

In fact. Post all options and dealer price, and then list out the mods and their cost. Lets get a total and then depreciate it. dont forget the stuff you cant see like axles, etc.

Ripp themselves told me every auto they make requires lift to shift, trust me we went round and round about the subject. If guys have found ways around it that's great. All dealer options are listed at the top and the original msrp was 34,7**.

only one I forgot was the hardtop

Ok so starting at 34,700, plus how much total spent in mods? Im guessing like 15k?

would we say he is all in at $50k?

Whats the mileage?

Deola
11-30-2014, 09:18 PM
16,500 is the mileage, and 48,500 in jeep+mods

Deola

Not counting install prices

Install money is just set on fire. I think you can try for 50% on your mods. ( dont mean to insult )

I would list it for like 43,000, and take the offer at 38,000 when it comes.

The guy offering it will feel like he got a great deal, and I think you will come out pretty good also.

If someone comes in above 38 with an offer, then you did even better.

Do not let this thread fall asleep. When it sells, tell us what it sold for. We should come up with a ratio of value of our mods for resale.

Not insulted at all. We are very close in the bottom dollar and you're higher in the original ask so I feel pretty confident.

Good Topic. Ryan, I changed your title and stickied it to the top of the forum. The title "Jeep Sale" was non specific and I didnt think you'd mind. -

I think we all convince ourselves that the money we spend on modding our rigs will come back at sale (a little bit).

Someone took a look at BB once at show on the boardwalk and told me i spent $70,000 (wrong) but it was worth $35,000. I nearly punched him in the face. Not a jeep guy, just an idiot on the boardwalk who then proceeded to badger me about why i dont work for jeep.

Reliving it in my head now, i think he may have been drinking. Didnt seem like it at the time.

Anyway, I wonder how much money is truck in my garage really worth? I guess to a prince in the middle east its worth 100k. but if I had to put BB on the block, where is the line where I should be upset? I dont even want to try to list the mods. And i CERTAINLY CERTAINLY CERTAINLY do not want to figure out what I've spent.

I think if you get near 40k your looking good. I'm with Yoinkers with the plan of asking for a high figure, so when someone trys to screw you...you've already added a cushion.

Anyone out there have already sold a tricked out jeep? How did you do?

Deola
11-30-2014, 10:28 PM
So we are gonna ask 40, and will take 37,500 if it comes down to it

Gunner

Thats a steal at that price. I paid 35 for my Rubi new and have 12 more in it now.

Hopefully someone else sees it that way

When I bought my JKU sport I also looked at a poorly put together JKUR on the lot that they wanted $46k for and it wasn't nearly as well put together, granted that was on a dealers lot. So I think you are right on with the pricing.

did this thing sell?
I'm in the same boat as your dad. I did everything to my jeep myself, and modeled it close to the starwood motors jeeps. I see those guys selling for $80k for what i've done to mine. I'm asking $55 and have had a decent number of calls, but no ones bitten yet.

Like a few posters ago said, less than $40 for your dad's is a steal. You shouldn't have a problem selling for that.

Deola

Haven't sold it yet, been too busy with holidays, family, work, and moving to even advertise it.

Deola

I put it up for 38,000 last night, we will see. Dad already found the replacement

Deola

Dropped it to 35,500 still no serious buys, getting close to trade in value

where are you advertizing? are you near a major city? or out in the country?

Yoinkers
01-25-2015, 11:19 AM
you got it on ebay?

Deola
01-25-2015, 07:21 PM
Just jk forum. I've always had really good luck on there and my grandmother passed Friday so I haven't had time since I'm POA

Deola

34,000 now...still nada

FLIPmeOVER

what is POA?

and you need to list it everywhere. JL is a home for engine mods, and people who want to get into all that find their way here, but everyone reading this site has a jeep. You need to reach the masses. You owe it to yourself and your dad to get that thing on auto trader, ebay, classifieds in your area.

If you sell it for 1000 more, its worth the effort.

One other thing, anyone looking to buy a jeep cannot get a loan for a tricked out one. Banks dont care about mods. If anything they dont want rigs modded even IF they are still only lending on the stock value. The guy who buys your dad's rig will be paying cash.

Dont get caught up in, "well if i make it cheap enough, someone will buy it". Its not a good game plan....AND you are selling at a terrible time of year. If you can hang in till April, you should see things change, and I'd push the panic button on Memorial day.

I agree with listing it everywhere you can. The more people you reach, the more likely you will find more interest in it.

Deola
01-28-2015, 08:13 AM
I'm not expecting to sell it on here, I'm selling it in JK-forum. POA is power of attorney. 33,500 is trade in offered and that will be taken Friday if nobody bites sooner. Dad found the next Jeep for him and that's where the trade in is at. I'd spread the word more if there was more time.

Yoinkers
01-28-2015, 11:46 AM
This is not a good barometer for interest in modified jeeps.

That trade in offer will be good 2 weeks from now also, I'd take a shot with some other media. Cant hurt to wait an extra week, you may get thousands more than you are going to get. 33,500 is pretty much giving that jeep away.

Your going to be annoyed when that dealer turns around and advertises it for $45,000. You know thats whats going to happen.

Deola

Sold it for 38,500. Just wanted to share the end result with you guys.

FLIPmeOVER

thats not bad. If you let it go for 34 would have been tragic.
