Ive had this saw for a weekend, figured I'd share my feelings.

First, there are some things that I think are misleading about the way that this saw is marketed.

They say - "You dont have to clean up the ends when you cut. So you save SOOOO much time not having to deburr."

False. Each piece needs attention when its done. There are burrs. Not sometimes, everytime. I couldn't make it cut without burrs and I kept changing the speed that I would lower the saw.

The VISE-

This is the part that gets the most criticism online, oddly, I disagree with public opinion. I like the vise. I found it to be tough as long as you position the fence in one of the positions where the pin goes thru the base.

Overall, I found it pretty tough and nothing I tried to cut moved in the vise, AND the quick release worked well.

The base-

stamped steel. So its thin, and the powdercoat is also thin.

I chipped it inside 3 cuts from the time we turned it on.

Does it have to be thin and light in order to get into this price point? I guess.

Shavings-

This thing makes a MESS. You need to have it somewhere you can sweep easily, or shop vac.

I can see there being PILES of shavings in a situation where you are doing any real work. Also, They are hard little pieces of steel. Dont let anyone walk barefoot anywhere near where this thing is in use.

This is what Ive got after 3 cuts through 2 inch 3/16s steel plate.

Show us some of the stuff you cut.

One man's burr might be another mans clean cut....maybe?

(i've read nothing but good reviews for this saw, so this info really made me pump the brakes on purchase)

15 years ago the name "DeWalt" ment something.

They have let their brand turn into chinese crap.

Tragic. I really used to like their stuff.

I agree. The yellow label has gone down hill.
