Bessey 6" Heavy Duty Drop Forged Vise BV-DF6SB

    Looking at more vises!

Here is another one. Bessey's 6 Inch Forged Vise.

The vise is advertized as virtually unbreakable under "normal use". Its Forged Steel boasts 90,000 psi. You cannot change the jaws on this one however, but they are hardened steel, so good luck wearing them out.

The base has 3 holes for the hardware to hold it to the table. Others in this price range will have 4. The powdercoat is some of the best we have seen, and the function feels heavy duty. Very stiff spindle, but I assume it will loosen with use.

Pipe Jaws. Yes, this model has them. It accomodates a 2.5" pipe.

    Specifications:

    Jaw width 6"
    Jaw opening 7"
    Throat depth 4"
    Pipe capacity 3/8" - 2-1/2"
    Anvil size 2-1/2" x 3-1/8"
    Total dimensions 19"L x 10"W x 8-3/4"H including base

i agree. I come to this website for jeep stuff, dangling these tools in front of me is cruel.

    Now I need a vise.

Forged Steel? Cast Iron? whats the difference? does it matter? How many PSI's do i need?

I like forged things. This vise is technically bigger than the wilton, but the pipe capacity is smaller? How does that work out?

Is the pipe capacity smaller on the vise? it is mentioned that its bigger than the wilton.
